PGDF Advisory Council Member Dr. Lorenzo Leggio publishes major AUD review

PGDF Advisory Council member Dr. Lorenzo Leggio has published a major review of advances in the science and treatment of alcohol use disorder in the journal Science Advances.

The review covers the history of alcohol use disorder treatment, neurobiology of AUD, clinical management of withdrawal, pharmacological treatments both approved and in development, evidence based behavioral/ psychological treatments, and factors contributing to the effectiveness of treatment.

Leggio and his colleagues also outline gaps in current scientific knowledge of AUD and suggest new directions for future research.
