Grant Program

The Peter G. Dodge Foundation’s philanthropic program consists of Mission Grants and Community Grants, benefiting projects and initiatives at exemplary non-profit organizations in the United States.

Mission Grants

Mission Grants fund work that aligns with our primary mission: helping people lead lives free from the effects of alcohol addiction. First-time applicants may submit proposals for grants of $5,000 to $10,000 during our annual open-application grant cycle. The deadline for proposals is October 1st, and disbursements are made in December.

Grants for larger initiatives, such as scientific research, are by invitation. These projects are typically initiated by PGDF and pursued in collaboration with the grantee. Organizations who wish to be considered for these grants may submit a brief letter of inquiry describing the proposed project.

2017 Program Objectives

Through the Mission Grant program, we support initiatives that:

  • Refine alcohol-use disorder (AUD) diagnosis and referral to treatment
  • Share information about the full spectrum of treatment options that exist for AUD
  • Help young people understand alcohol addiction and take action when it affects them
  • Increase and update knowledge about AUD treatment in medical schools and amongst physicians
  • Develop or test new avenues for AUD treatment

How Can My Organization Apply?

Apply for a Mission Grant by completing our grant application. Applications can be submitted by email or by postal mail as indicated on the form. The application should briefly describe your objectives, activities, preliminary timeline, budget, and amount of funding requested. Grants for first-time applicants range from $5,000 to $10,000. The deadline to apply is October 1st.

Please note that PGDF’s grant programs provide funds to non-profit, 501(c)(3) organizations only. PGDF does not give grants to individuals or for-profit businesses or organizations. Proof of tax-exempt status and follow-up reporting will be required.

Where Do These Grants Come From?

PGDF is generously supported by Peter G. Dodge, and by the company he founded, Hanover Research. All PGDF administrative costs and the majority of our grants are funded in this way.

Every dollar donated to us by our supporters and partners goes directly into our grant programs. Every gift, large and small, increases our capacity to aid the worthy organizations who apply to us for funding. Tax-deductible contributions to our grant program can be made online.
