An important segment of our Mission Grant funding comes from donors and supporters like you. Everyone is touched by alcohol addiction, whether through a family member or friend, one’s own journey, or simply from a public health perspective. Alcohol addiction is the most pervasive of the substance use disorders, accounting for 70% of those who struggle with substance use. In fact, it is the fourth leading preventable cause of death in the United States.
Yet, compared with funding for other diseases such as cancer, AIDS, or heart disease, alcohol use disorder research and treatment receives comparatively little of the public and private support that it needs. Our goal at PGDF is to bring more people into philanthropy in this area— on a large and small scale— to elevate awareness, facilitate access, and increase options for alcohol use disorder treatment.
PGDF has developed a reputation as a capable, forward-looking organization that works with world-class partners to create lasting change. We offer an avenue for responsible philanthropy in this area for those who want to help but may not know how. Because our Board pays 100% of our operating costs, you can be sure that every dollar of your donation will be used to help increase options, awareness, and access for people with alcohol addiction.
